Qatar Focuses on Germany
Qatar Museums has confirmed Germany as the official partner for the 2017 Year of Culture. Initiated by Qatar Museums and the German Federal Foreign Office and organized in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, the German Embassy Dohaand Qatar Embassy in Berlin the initiative was officially launched this week.

In a Federal Convention election held in Berlin on 12 February 2017, former German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier was elected the 12th President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Germany for United Nations Security Council 2019-20
Peace, justice, innovation, partnership - these are the things Germany wants to play in the United Nations. That is why we are standing for a seat in the United Nations Security Council 2019/20 - "an organization more important than ever," said Foreign Minister Steinmeier.
Five hundred years ago, on 31 October 1517, legend has it that theology professor Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg.
The posting of these theses in Wittenberg marks the beginning of the Reformation. The far reaching theological, cultural and political consequences of the Reformation make its anniversary in 2017 not only a church affair, but a central global event in cultural history.

Embassy visits Tariq bin Ziyad School
On Monday, 04.10.2016, an embassy cultural delegation headed by Ambassador Hans Udo Muzel, visited Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School for Boys in Doha. The school is a part of the German international school initiative “Schools: Partner for the Future; known as PASCH”
The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Hamad Mohamed Al Mannai, school principal, student ambassadors from the German classes and the staff. Over 100 students of the school are attending German lessons.
The delegation attended a German class with the students and joined them while performing some language learning related activities.
Ambassador Muzel was impressed by the enthusiasm and passion for learning the German language shown by the students, as well as by the quality of the interactive lesson offered to them.
Favorably impressed by the visit, Ambassador Muzel expressed his great appreciation for the efforts of the school in motivating students and encouraging them to learn German as a foreign language.
At the end of the visit, the ambassador encouraged the school and the students to maintain the great work and promised the embassy’s continued support for the future.

In collaboration with the newly established European Union Cultural Cluster (EUNIC) in Qatar the German Embassy in Doha took part in the celebration of the Day of the European Languages at Institut français .
On the occasion of the day, two introductory classes in German language were offered. Additionally, visitors were able to enjoy some German traditional food specialties. The event succeeded to highlight Europe's cultural diversity as well as to promote language learning.
The German Embassy extends warmest thanks to all respected guests who attended the event and have shown interest in learning the German language.
We are looking forward to welcoming more guests in the next year!
Siemens Celebrates Delivery of 1.000th Gas Turbine to Qatar
On Sunday, 25 September 2016 Siemens - a leader in "German Turbine Technology" - celebrated the arrival of its 1.000th gas turbine produced at its Berlin factory. The turbine will be installed at the Umm Al Houl power plant and is the 5th of a total of 11 turbines, which will deliver one quarter of Qatar’s power generating capacity.
